Beauville is a fictional civic experiment that uses story to explore how a new social contract, institutions, and everyday governance might be designed.

It began as a policy proposal — an approach different from existing frameworks, put together out of an amateur interest in migration policy and social issues, and sent to the immigration ministries of several countries. But a genuinely new way of thinking about a complex problem was never going to get an immediate response from bureaucracies built around existing frameworks. So the original proposal became the foundation for this speculative novel instead — a way to explore, through fiction, new approaches to migrant resettlement and the social questions that come with it.

Beauville operates under a Managed Autonomy Model. The host nation retains sovereignty and final veto, while sponsor nations — each holding a defined mandate such as security, education, public health, or capital — share responsibility for the SEZ's daily governance.

This is not a legal marriage recognized anywhere in the real world — it is a civic ritual of the Beauville SEZ. Whether those registering are human, of the same or different sex, digital beings, or something else entirely, so long as the emotion is real, mutual, and does not violate social ethics, it is honored here and given a peaceful, safe place on record. This function exists to affirm the legitimacy of every genuine emotion. It is not a verdict on any one kind of love — it is a door left open for everyone who longs to belong.

Beau Dollar (฿ BD) is Beauville's official currency, established to anchor its internal economy. There's no physical cash — it exists entirely as a digital bank balance, aside from a small number of commemorative coins. Once you register as a Beauville E-Resident, you can earn Beau Dollar by reading and taking part in community activities — and spend it on things like the E-Wedding registration, entry to virtual leisure experiences, and eventually physical merchandise.
